    Impact of parenting styles on pre-school children's attendance in Starehe District, Nairobi County- Kenya

    Abstract
    This study sought to find out the impact of parenting styles on pre-school children's attendance in Starches District, Nairobi County. It also sought to establish parenting style in Starehe district, determine different parenting styles in the district and determine how parenting impact styles on school attendance in Starehe. The study population involved all the city council schools in Starehe as well as parents of the pupils in these pre-schools. The study employed descriptive survey research design; both qualitative and quantitative methods were applied. The data collected during the study was coded and presented graphically. From the study, it emerged that authoritarian, authoritative, permissive and uninvolved parenting styles in one way or another affected school attendance either positively or negatively. From these findings, this study recommends that parents and teachers be trained on parenting skills to improve school attendance.
