    Abstract
Kerosene lamps are widely used in rural areas. They produce toxic smoke and they are expensive, unsafe and do not give enough light. Due to these reasons this project aims at developing a portable solar re-chargeable LED lamp to replace kerosene lamp. Since the main source of energy is solar it requires a battery to drive the LED lamp in the absence of solar. A suitable DC-DC topology is required to effectively charge the battery. The main factors to consider are suitable LUX level, high efficiency.
