    Strategy implementation in community-based projects in Kitui County of Kenya

    Abstract
    Organizations are today operating in a very volatile environment. Competition is intense than even befo~e. Organizations are globalizing in quest for new markets and to expand their market share. In order to survive and result into growth, development and profitability to sustainable levels, these organizations needs to identify critical areas which they can compete on in this competitive environment. This study sought to determine strategy implementation practices adopted by Community-based projects and also establish challenges of strategy implementation faced by the Community-based projects in Kitui County of Kenya. A census survey design was used to enable the researcher gather relevant data for this academic undertaking. The target respondents were drawn from churches, schools, colleges, NGOs, ministry of gender and sports in Kitui County and private institutions identified by the researcher. The researcher used annual register to select randomly 50 CBPs which are used as sample size for this study. The structured questionnaires were used to collect the primary dat, where respondent rate bringing a response rate of 75 %. The analysis of data was by use of mean, standard deviation, percentile scores, frequency distribution and results presented in charts, graphs and tables. The findings were that among the highly rated challenges in CBPs strategy implementation is inadequate resources with a mean score of 4.50 followed by poor leadership with a mean score of 3.75. Resistance to change and lack of timely and adequate information followed with mean scores of 3.71 and 3.08 respectively. Poor organizations.' structure was the least with a mean score of 1.50. These findings correlated well with similar case study of Meru central on factors affecting implementation of Government strategies in agriculture to reduce poverty in Kenya which showed inadequate resources is a major challenge.
