    Abstract
The study concludes that Internet is a double edged sword because it empowers as much as it predisposes users to risks especially those with limited knowledge on safety. The study asserts that Internet is an enormous empowerment tool but the level of empowerment is determined by the knowledge and information on how to connect to the Internet safely to avoid falling victim to people who prey on the innocent. It is recommended that women should continue utilizing Internet resource for their social, political and economic well being. Internet crimes should not hinder Internet usage and should not discourage women from access to Internet as it just marginalizes them further. Overall, women should be sensitized on the dangers posed by Internet, the risky online activities and how to safely navigate technology resources without increasing risk of abuse and discrimination in order to contribute freely, effectively and equitably to social, economic, political and culture development.
