    Abstract
    The concept of Human Resource Audit and the effectiveness of the Human Resource function is a recent development in the sphere of Human Resource Management. This research study seeks to establish the perceived effects of Human Resource audit on the effectiveness of the Human Resource function at Alterrain Services Group Kenya Limited. The main objective of this study is to investigate and determine the perceived effect of Human Resource Audit on the effectiveness of the Human Resource Function. The study utilised a case study research design since the organization to be studied was the sole unit of analysis and helped generalize the findings. Data collected was primary data with the main tool been questionnaire technique and secondary data which includes articles, journals, literature and internet sources. The key informants for the study included the Managers and the Chief Executive Officer. The data was checked for accuracy, completeness and analyses using descriptive statistics. The responses from the questionnaire was analyzed using frequency, percentages, measures of central tendency and measures of variation. The data was analyzed, summarized and tabulated in form of percentages, frequencies and mean scores. Based on the findings of the study the human resource function needs to re-look a number of key human resource products and services if it want to maintain or improve the current level of effectiveness.This research will be an aid to further studies in future.
