    Implementation of Strategy in Kahuho Uhuru High School in Kiambu County of Kenya

    Abstract
    Recent government policy initiatives have focused on attainment of Education for all (EFA) in Kenya which led to declaration of Free Secondary Education (FSE) in 2008. All these changes require continuous planning of secondary school education so as to realize the government objectives in edu cation. The objective of the study was to determine how strategy is implemented at Kahuho Uhuru High School and establish the challenges faced by Kahuho Uhuru high school in strategy implementation. The research was conducted through a case study design an d primary data collected through interviews. The qualitative data was analyzed through content analysis. The study concludes that strategy implementation at Kahuho Uhuru High School is characterized by successful application of practices in strategy implem entation and shortfall in other practices . The practices that have been applied successfully include: communication, monitoring and evaluation, performance measurement, and performance appraisal. Nevertheless, Kahuho Uhuru High School is still facing short falls in the involvement of stakeholders, training, and leadership style. The main challenges faced by Kahuho Uhuru High School in strategy implementation. include: the transition of the new political regime; social economic constraints; low level of tech nological advancement; increased legal awareness such as children rights; devolved system of governance in Kenya; fee primary education and secondary education; ministry of education syllabus coverage deadlines; the frequent teachers‟ strikes and shortage of bot h human and financial resources. The study recommends that the process of implementing strategic plans in school can be enhances if all stakeholder are involved, frequent training and review of syllabus.
