This has demanded that microfinance institutions formulate and implement competitive strategies to be able to cope with the competitive pressure. Following the changes in the environment, microfinance institutions have been forced to come up with competitive strategies that will deal with forces in the environment in order to gain a competitive advantage in terms of performance. The population of the study consisted of 61 MFI in the AMF ASSOCIATION AT 31ST August 2014. Out of 61 targeted, 45 responded by returning the filled questionnaires. This was approximately 74% response rate.
