29 Commonwealth Scholarships available for Postgraduate Studies in the UK
Abstract
The Commonwealth Commission in the United Kingdom is offering to Kenyan students 10 PhD and 19 Masters full time taught programmes tenable in eligible UK institutions of higher learning starting October 2015.
Priority will be given to studies that are along the following themes:
Education
Health
Economic Growth and the Private Sector
Water and Sanitation
Governance and Conflict
Climate and Environment
Food and Nutrition
Humanitarian Disaster and Emergencies
Duration of the Scholarships
One (1) year taught masters courses
Doctoral degrees of up to three (3) years
Eligibility
Masters studies
Below 35 years
Be a holder of at least 2nd Class Honours Upper Division and above
Must state the source of funding at undergraduate level
Be serving in the country in the public sector
PhD studies
Below 45 years
Be a holder of a very good Master's degree
Should have proof support from a prospective supervisor in at least one chosen institution
Be serving in the country in the public sector
Note
Commonwealth Commission WILL NOT accept direct applications. All applications must be made through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as the nominating agency.

Application Procedure
Obtain preliminary application forms from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Directorate of Higher Education Offices located at Telposta Towers, 27th floor Room 2702 or download the forms from the website: www.scienceandtechnology.go.ke or http://education.go.ke
Completed application forms with attached certified copies of ID, academic professional certificates, transcripts, birth certificate, other testimonials and a proposal in the area of study should be sent to:

Preliminary application forms should reach the Ministry not later than 26th September 2014
Only shortlisted applicants (who shall be informed by the Ministry
through e-mail or telephone call) shall be required to proceed with steps 5- 9

Complete the Electronic Application System (EAS) form online BUT download and print three (3) copies before submitting it electronically to the Commonwealth Commission.
Submit one (1) set of the hard copy of completed EAS form through your Head of Department to the Directorate of Higher Education on the address indicated above.
Await an invitation for an interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
