    Abstract
    Announcement for research training workshop on Climate Change & Scientific Data Management and Scientific Communication and Publishing courses for Innovative Application of ICTs in Addressing Water-related Impacts of Climate Change (ICTWCC) is being held at, Nairobi Safari Club, University Way, Nairobi between 18th – 25th March 2013 Please click on the here for directions Project grantees hail from various countries of Africa: Cameroon 2 participants Ethiopia 3 participants Kenya 5 participants Mozambique 1 participants South Africa 2 participants Uganda 1 participants The project team organizing the workshop consist of Professor Timothy Waema Dr Laban MacOpiyo Mrs Anuradha Khoda The workshop was officially launched on Monday by the acting Vice chancellor University of Nairobi, Prof. Peter Mbithi. Click here to download the Speech The overall aim of the training workshop is to enhance research and publishing capacity of grantees under the ICTWCC programme. The courses are expected to enable participants competently achieve the following specific objectives: For Climate Change and Scientific Data Management Course Understand concepts of Climate variability and change modelling at various time and space scales Understand the approaches to regional and local climate studies based on existing climate analysis methods Plan either an experiment or a survey efficiently Understand the various biometrical components pertaining to data collection, design and analysis of experiments/surveys Apply correctly various statistical techniques at all stages of research and effectively report the results For Effective Scientific Communication and Publishing Course Undertake Scientific writing and publishing Perform Graphical methods for data analysis Oral Communication and presentation Proposal writing and grant management Web 2.0 Applications Similar workshops will take place in Asia and Latin America regions. Asia workshop will be held from the 28th March to 4th April in Hanoi, Vietnam at the Asian Management and Development Institute (AMDI).
