School welcomes CPP class of 2013 to undertake thesis research

Abstract

19th March 2015, THE Collaborative Ph.D. Programme in Economics (CPP) students reported to the School to embark on their PhD thesis research. CPP is a collaborative training programme among Sub-Saharan African Universities in the field of postgraduate training in Economics, executed by the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), with active participation of member universities. Under the programme, the School admits students who proceed to the University of Dar es Salaam for course work, then return to the University of Nairobi to write their PhD theses.

The CPP Class of 2013 has a total of 5 students, all with full Scholarships from the Government of Kenya through the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC). The students have just completed their course work and comprehensive examinations from the University of Dar es Salaam, the Host University under the Collaborative Programme.During the orientation, the Director expressed her pride at receiving the students and congratulated them for the hard work they had done over the last 17 months. She expressed her gratitude to the Government of Kenya and AERC for continued support to the PhD (and Masters) Programmes. During the meeting, the students were provided with details of their respective thesis supervisors and were taken through regulations governing PhD research including the University of Nairobi’s policy on plagiarism, the Almanac for their cohort and submission of progress reports among others. The students were urged to work very hard to ensure that they complete their work within the stipulated timelines.
