    Abstract
This work reports the synthesis of polydisperse, iron nanoparticles (FeNPs) stabilized on Chamomile polyols template. Chamomile extracts at temperatures 25, 50, 75, 90°c were used. The characteristics of the ‘green synthesis’ processed FeNPs were evaluated through UV-Vis spectroscopy, 25 high resolution tunneling microscopy (HRTEM), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FeSEM). The effect of extraction temperature on the pH of the resultant chamomile broth was investigated. Results indicated an increase in extraction led to more polyphenol extraction. A pale yellow to dark brown colour change observed indicated FeNPs formation. UV-Vis indicated the FeNPs surface Plasmon peaks at 260-290 nm and 300-350 for the 25, 50, 75, 90°c respectively. Most FeNPs bands overlapped with those of the chamomile extracts. The FeNPs bands were broad indicating polydispersity . FeSEM and HRTEM revealed spherical nano-sized particles with high agglomeration. Charging effects were evident . Particle diameters were 50-200nm.
