    Abstract
    The formal education system in Kenya is faced with many cha llenges such as meeting the human resource requirements for a rapidly changing and more diverse economy and ensuring quality education that meets the needs of the economy. This system is also faced with learning disparities and disruptions like learners’ s trikes and industrial unrests of the resource persons, busy schedules . Self - Study which empowers learners to take responsibility for their learning can be adopted to support formal education as well as pr ovides learners with flexibility, convenience and in dependence. To support formal education emerging ICT innovations need to be adopted to improve access and quality of education for all. And this answers why this study proposes an Agent - based self - study to address these concerns and at the same time facil itate the formal education system to produce a pool of qualified graduates matched with skills demand of the industry to ensure effective synergy
