    Abstract
Cloud computing is new technology that involves moving of software, services and data storage from computer desktop to remote servers, allowing user to access these resources from anywhere on demand. There are different cloud computing models which includes IaaS,PaaS and SaaS.The cloud There are several things which researchers can do with cloud computing. They can set up cloud computing environment and share resources. They can also identify what can be demand in terms of software, data storage and Platform. The researcher can construct and build these services that will be available on the cloud. Several cloud computing models will be discussed. In this study we have developed a prototype which is used as SaaS to provide certificate verification. Verification is the process of establishing the truth, accuracy, or validity of something such as the verification of official documents. In this study the document in reference is the academic certificate. In this prototype the user can request the certificates verification through online. The cloud computing environment is used to contain the data in a virtual machine. This prototype enables a convenient demand, on-demand access for shared pool of configurable computing resources that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort. We developed a prototype which allows users to make request to get the academic certificates verification by filling the name of institution, course name, year of graduation and the verification code. All this process will be carried out in private cloud and can be accessible for all web based prototype. The fifth generation cloud computing is prepared due to high demand of services in the current high rate of changes in Technology and it can be available in 24/7 days throughout the year. Finally the prototype was hosted in the cloud environment with the domain called vericert.co.ke
