dc.description.abstract | Architectural Education has undergone critical examination
in the UK, Europe and throughout the world - on an almost
continuous basis over the past world war years. WHY?
Partly because of a universally growing concern for effective
forms of Education. Partly because of changing needs in Society,
linked with problems of housing, urban renewals, the creation
of new towns and even of new cities. At the same time
progress and change placed new values upon industrialisation
and more laterly conservation of resources. The more developed
countries were reaching for sophistication and qualities of
life, whilst the emergent developing countries were seeking self
identification in a was of life both human and material, within
a world undergoing accelerated change.
The more recent years have seen unbelievable advances in
Science, Technology, Medicine and an infinite range of
associated disciplines. Never before has man developed his
knowledge and skill at such a growth rate.
Science has advanced techniques of communication which have
shrunk the frontiers of space and linked mankind more closely,
physically, intellectually and hopefully - morally.
However, the world and every country in it still knows
the meaning of fear, for there is still doubt and
misunderstanding, often resultant from lack of communication. | en_US |
