dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to examine the factors that influence the
implementation of Ruring’u stadium in Nyeri County. This study was guided by the
following objectives; to examine the influence of stakeholder involvement on the
implementation of Ruring’u stadium in Nyeri County, to establish the influence of financial
resources management on implementation of Ruring’u stadium in Nyeri County, to assess the
influence of Institutional management leadership styles on implementation of Ruring’u
stadium in Nyeri County, and lastly to explore the influence of monitoring and evaluation on
implementation of Ruring’u stadium in Nyeri County. The study was based on the agency
theory, stakeholder theory and resource based theory. Descriptive research design was used
in this study. The target population of this study was 104 respondents who comprised of the
Sports Stadia Management Board (SSMB) in Ruring’u stadium, Nyeri County Government
officials and contractors constructing Ruring’u stadium in Nyeri. The study used a sample
size of 104 respondents through census sampling. This study used structured questionnaires
to gather data that was analyzed in respect to research objectives. In this study, the pilot study
was carried out to ascertain the validity and reliability of research instruments. The pilot
study involved 10 respondents who comprised of Sports Stadia Management Board and
contractors from Kipchonge Keino Stadium. The research questionnaires were confirmed to
be valid and reliable. After data collection, the questionnaires were checked for completeness
before being coded and entered into SPSS version 22 for analysis. Descriptive statistics were
done to describe basic characteristics of the data whereby frequencies, means and standard
deviations were used. Inferential statistics were used to describe the relationship between the
independent variables and dependent variable of the study. The total response rate from all
the groups sampled for the study was 84.6%. This found out that the stakeholder involvement
has a statistically significant influence (t=7.703, p<0.05) on implementation of Ruring’u
stadium in Nyeri County. It was also found out that financial resources management has a
statistically significant influence (t=8.420, p<0.05) on implementation of Ruring’u stadium in
Nyeri County. Similarly, the study established that Institutional management leadership styles
has a statistically significant influence (t=7.948, p<0.05) on implementation of Ruring’u
stadium in Nyeri County. In view of monitoring and evaluation, the study established that
monitoring and evaluation has a statistically significant influence (t=7.907, p<0.05) on
implementation of Ruring’u stadium in Nyeri County. Therefore all the research hypothesis
for this study were rejected at 0.05 significance level. The following regression model has
obtained using the standardized beta coefficients; Implementation of Ruring’u Stadium =
0.099 + 0.235 (Stakeholder Involvement) + 0.257(Financial Resources Management) + 0.236
(Institutional Management Leadership) + 0.225 (Monitoring and Evaluation) + 0.11308. This
regression model was found to have significant predictive capacity F (4, 83) = 59.399, p. <
0.05). Stakeholder Involvement, Financial Resources Management, Institutional management
leadership styles and Monitoring and Evaluation were found to explain 74.1% of the variation
in the level of implementation of Ruring’u stadium (R-Square=0.741). The recommendations
from this study will help those who are actively involved in the implementation of Ruring’u
stadium project to effectively manage the stakeholders, offer better Institutional management
leadership styles and have a better monitoring and evaluation process. This study established
that respondents did not have consensus in regard to the presence of monitoring and
evaluation unit for the implementation of Ruring’u stadium. Therefore, a further study can be
done to shade light on this disparity in opinions. The suggested study can seek to examine the
efficiency of monitoring and evaluation unit in project management. A further study can also
be done on stakeholder engagement and quality of decision-making. This suggestion is
reached at due to almost similar responses on the two metrics by the respondents which may
need a further study to establish whether the two metrics are related. | en_US |
