    The influence of adult and continuing education on economic development in Kariobangi North, Kasarani division, Nairobi

    Abstract
    The real purpose of this study was to find out the role of adult education on economic development in Kasarani division of Nairobi Province. The research study was guided by research questions which were relevant to the objectives of the study. The literature review of the research covered the brief historical background of the United Nations Organization in China, Bangladesh, Cuba and India. African Review of adult education in countries like Tanzania, Ghana and Guinea and the adult education in Kenya was covered. Transformation through learning activities was realized through some case studies. The data was collected through questionnaires. The questionnaires for adult education officers in Kasarani, the adult education teachers an. d the adult education students were well received because the respondents felt that their needs had to be addressed. Most of the learners had shown a lot of interest in their learning. Some people were learning how to read and others doing activities they did not want to do. The study recommended that the adult education learning should be promoted because it makes some people start businesses, encourage their children to go to school and some have wished to get higher education before they get jobs. Adult learning should be given more emphasis for economic development than it has ever been before.
