dc.description.abstractThis study is concerned with three way training (i.e integrated use of correspondence courses, radio lessons ffild face to face teaching) of inservice primary school teache rs in Modem Mathematics in Kenya (1973-1974). Its objectives are to discover the following: (a) The effect of the students' personal and social circumstances such as age, sex, domestic responsibilities etc. on their performance in New Mathematics. (b) The contribution of different study methods (i.e. cor respondence courses, radio lessons and residential sessions) used by the students, either single or in combination, to their learning of Modem Mathematics. (c) The relationship of the students' progress to the proportion of work submitted by them to the Correspondence Course Unit for lnarking and comments. (d) TIle role, responsibilities and problems of part-time tutors teaching through correspondence instruction. (e) The causes of dropout/wastage and ways of reducing it.en
