Pests of grain legumes and their control in Kenya
Abstract
Virtually no precise information is available on the distribution, incidence and injuriousness of insect pests of grain legume crops in Kenya or on effective chemical or alternative control measures. The data presented here are compiled from the results of recent surveys by the author and post-graduate students of Nairobi University (especially of crops of Phaseolus) and from reports received from farmers and other field workers. The pests are divided into root feeders, leaf and stem feeders, flower feeders, pod and seed feeders, and storage pests; information is given on the plant species they attack and their injuriousness.
