    Influence of kazi kwa vijana programme on participants livelihood in Getembe Division Kisii County, Kenya

    Abstract
    Chapter one of this study presents the background of the study, statement of the problem of the problem and the purpose of the research. This study was conducted to investigate the influence of KKV programme on participants livelihood in Getembe Division in Kisii County. The objective of the study was to establish the extent to which garbage and waste management influence participants livehood, to examine the extent to which tree planting project influence participants livelihood, to assess the extent to which road repair influence participant livelihood, to establish the extent to which clearing bushes influences participants livelihood, to establish the extent to which river bank protection influence participants livelihood. The study findings will be useful to the government in formulating policies that will improve the programme. The findings will also help the public to have a better understanding of the governments poverty reduction efforts through government funds disbursed to the urban and peri-urban level. The study was conducted in Getembe Division Kisii County. These included 5 ministries within Kisii Central District. Chapter two has the relevant literature review of the influence of KKV programme on participants livelihood in Getembe Division in Kisii County. The literature review is a collection of literature from research papers national and international seminar reports, government publication, internet and books. The chapter has the theoretical framework whereby Chakravarti's theory of poverty guiding the study is presented. The chapter ends with a conceptual framework showing the interrelationship among the variables. Chapter three presented the research methodology employed in the collection of data. The study was conducted using descriptive survey method with the data being collected using questionnaire and interview responses from 5 ministries and 222 respondent who were selected randomly and purposively from the accessible population. The data collected in the study was analyzed using the Microsoft Excel package and the SPSS software.This study found that garbage and waste management, road repair, tree planting, dam costruction did not have any influence on the livelihood of participants. The recommendation is that the amount given should be increased from Ksh.250 to Ksh 500, and more youths should be engaged in kazi kwa vijana.The government needs to introduce other programmes
