Language use in the Narratives of the Lamu People – An Analysis of selected oral Literature Narratives
Abstract
This book analyzes the importance of oral literature and the problems involved in collection and analysis of oral literature data. Oral narratives of the Lamu people, who are a sub-group of the Swahili, are analyzed in terms of language use. The language is analyzed at four levels: phonology, lexis, syntax and semantics. This book also explains various types of narratives in Lamu community. It is highly recommended for scholars, students and general readers
