    Abstract
This study evaluated the impact of information, education and communication campaigns on waste management behaviour of Embakasi Constituency residents. The objectives of the study were to investigate IEC campaigns on waste management behaviour available in urban residents; to determine the level of waste management behaviour awareness among urban residents; to find out waste management behaviour practised by urban residents and how they adopted them; and to evaluate the impact of IEC campaigns on the waste management behaviour of urban residents. The study was conducted through case study design whereby data was collected from a sample of 384 respondents using survey and key informant interviews. Various IEC campaigns in waste management behaviour were identified and the research found out that although there are campaigns in urban areas, there is still low level of waste management behaviour awareness. The study concluded that, whereas there are IEC campaigns on waste management behaviour in urban areas, there is little influence on urban residents. The study recommended frequent and sustainable campaigns on waste management with regular evaluations. Also the study recommended change of attitude of urban residents and their participation in drawing IEC campaigns on waste management.
