    Abstract
    Education is an important life process that plays a vital role in forming the foundation for student’s future better being, as it equips the leaner child with basic knowledge, skill s and attitude that , will enable her/him to cope well in life. In Kibwezi District most student s who attend public boarding and day secondary schools do not complete secondary level of education. Despite Kenya Government's commitment to enhancement of student’s education, their completion rate a t Secondary school level is no t a hundred percent . The purpose of this study was to determine fact ors affecting the students’ secondary education completion comparing public and day secondary schools and suggest strategies to promote school completion rate among students in public and day secondary schools in Kibwezi District. The stud y objective s were, to determine school based fact ors that influence student s’ school completion , to determine home hold factors that influence student s’ school completion in public and day secondary schools, to determine strategies for countering the problems facing the student s to ensure 100% completion rate among student s. The study adopted a descriptive survey designed to collect data information .T he target population was public and day secondary schools in Kibwezi district. The District has fifty public Secondary Schools with tot al enrolment of 8338 students, 4832 student s in Day secondary school….
